the moon dimmed the light
Digital Print
2018

Size: 66.49 x 67 cm (26.18" x 26.77")
2018/2021, Digital, Printed on Fine Art Paper, Matt.

"The Moon dimmed the Light" was originally Inspired by a young man who instantly became my creative muse. He often stood at the entryway of a local grocery store on Kottbusser Tor in Berlin asking for money. His entire face and I imagine his body which was concealed by a long coat was covered with tattoos. The technique of lining the face similar to tattooing was undoubtedly inspired by this young man.

"Gold tacks," in this artwork symbolize precious gemstones and rays of light as was traditionally used in many religious paintings.

Collage material: Magazine, photographs, gold tacks, newspaper, egg shells.

The Moon dimmed the Light" was acquired in 2021 into the permanent collection of the Berlinische Galerie in Berlin.
